Digital Sensor...

The Digital Advantage For the same reason that there is a reduced interest in the written letter compared to email, digital imagery is becoming the standard in aerial mapping.  The advantages of producing a digital product are obvious.  All GIS and planning is done through the use of high tech computer software capable of manipulating digital data to produce relevant information.  The ability to capture in digital and produce in digital ensures compatibility of products, ease of use, and efficiency.  MAS is committed to providing a quality product and working with clients to develop a strategy that meets the project needs and yet remains inside of the budget.  There are several parameters that dictate how a project will be set up, when it will be flown, and what it will cost.  If you have questions or are thinking of having a project area flown please give us a call.  We have dedicated personnel for the task of helping the client understand all of these parameters and giving them the tools to make an informed decision.Digital Sensor The Applanix DSS is on the cutting edge of digital sensors in today’s aerial photo market.  With the use of an airborne GPS and IMU partnership the system is able to produce highly accurate ortho-images without the use of ground control thus aiding in efficiency and turn-around time.  Accuracies of Digital Sensor Systemthe camera system  reach as high as 6 inches horizontal and less than a foot vertically.  With this amount of accuracy, imagery from the system can be used for plannimetric mapping of surface features, road layout and design, general analysis, and forest stand deleniation among other applications.  Orthorectified mosaics of large areas can be produced in very short periods of time for use in time critical applications with the DSS due to its ability to perform direct georeferencing utilizing existing terrain information.  Other important features include the ability to quickly and accurately create the flight plan area and utilize onboard navigation to ensure proper coverage of the target area.

The DSS is designed as a medium format camera equivalent to 16 megapixel with the array size of 4096 X 4077.  This setup allows for a very high range of resolution options from 4 inches all the way to 20 inches.
